The laptops are a MAJOR distraction in class, people in front of you constantly Facebook, web surf, etc. For the first few years, the wireless network was horrible and caused more problems than it cured.

NMU is a great school. I live downstate too and I didn't know anyone when I came up here, but I love it. Just know winters are cold, but not unbearable, and you are far away from home. It is awesome to have an opportunity to live somewhere like this because it is so unlike anywhere I've been downstate. Visit and see how you feel.

what does everyone think about NMU (good or bad)? I am considaring going there in the fall 2011 and am form southern michigan. is there anything to do there or any jobs?

08 graduate and I miss NMU so much, found lot's of friend and student groups there, the laptops are great too.
