I like the little note of satisfaction he gives at 4:24 as he works at his drawing board. He thinks to himself, it seems, "this is right, this is good".
His Universal System wall cabinets are reminiscent of Poul Cadovius' Royal System from the 50's (which was earlier than Rams' design, if I'm not mistaken). So he too was inspired by work that came before him (which is a good thing obviously).
it was Jonathan Ive VP of design at Apple, who designed the iPod, the iMac and many other Apple products. Dieter Rams, features in this movie, was the Head of Design at Braun in Germany.
