@MarekPick In case you're still wondering (and anyone else), Christian Bale told Mary Harron (American Psycho's director) that Tom Cruise on Letterman inspired his characterisation of Patrick Bateman, although this interview is from 2006, I can't seem the find the '99 one...

@ConwayJCalvin I know what you mean. I'm definitely in the minority view! But I think Bale relies on his image of being a jerk, he is a good actor (and he comes from where I come from so I should be biased!) but I don't like the portrayal of intensity he gives off, it may seem real to some and fake to others. Plus I think more people think Cruise is a Jerk what with the scientology stuff. I just prefer watching cruise on screen. But that's just my preference :-)

He's a nicer guy because he has no other honest personality because of his celebrity status. Christian may seem like a jerk, but the world doesn't revolve around nice guys, the world evolves and improves because of honest people. And Tom Cruise can't act.
Christian Bale is phenomenal and artistic and personal. Tom Cruise is a wax statue of a man.
