@ohd00bley I fully agree.

@ohd00bley I agree completely about those two records being their best work overall. All the albums had great moments, though.

The LP this song is from "Pressure Cookin'" will be released on the 18th. Even while I have converted my LP to mp3 I am looking forward to it's arrival. I think Pressure Cookin' and Chameleon are Labelle's most accomplished albums.

feeling feeling, feeling good
Can't make you understand, how you wish that I would--your brand of short love affairs calls for much more than I have
let me see you in the light
don't be afraid it's alright
Your eyes have built a wall much too low too high to vault
No foreign protocol makes me willing to be caught
Let me see you in the light
don't be afraid it's alright

I loved Labelle's sound--no they weren't crystal clear soprano nymphs but to me they were exciting because of their sheer vocal firepower. It's a matter of taste really. I hate 70's heavy metal guitar--hated that crap--but i loved the 90's grunge guitar sound. Why? Who knows. I love Bruce Springsteen's voice but a lot of people hate it. I was huge Smiths fan but never thought Morrissey was much of a singer. It's all personal taste

I never understood it either, because obviously Diana had/has a huge fan base. Why? Because of her singing voice. But just as many only thought it sounded like Minnie Mouse on helium, screechy, shrill and jarring.

It's about just being yourself. Being free and stop putting on pretentions. The person is never living up to their expectations and they just want them to just be themselves and "be seen in the light"

what the heck is the song about though, do you know?
i was at a bar on night talking with a friend about labelle and he talk specifically about this song...and thank you for putting it up here. this is my first time hearing it and i see what he was talking about. i had the pleasure of running into Nona Hendryx while working as a host at a restaurant in NYC. i didn't mean to, but i shouted her out and gave her love and she gave it back to me right there out in the sidewalk cafe. Vicki Wickham was right behind her and she did the same.
