build by my son Ando and me over the weekend.
pine neck, toothpick frets and guitar tuner.
it sounds pretty good and has volume.
i play some kind of blues.

  • Thanks. we simply flattend the toothpics on one side to get a 'D' shaped crossection and glued them with luthier's woodglue directly to the neck. when dry we carefully sanded all frets at once with a sanding stick to get them on one level. Frets feel rough - might be a good idea to put on some lacquer.

  • Wow, great! I'm going to stain mine first. I was thinking of sinking them but glueing them on is als an option. Ted Crocker is a builder on the CigarBoxNation and he treats them with super glue first. But then again he's building guitars with steel strings so they would have to be tougher than frets for nylons. Well thanks for the info. Great job!
