Fire fox (1983 Atari) From Start to Finish on MAME

A flying/ shooting 'em up game where you pilot the most complicated plane on earth stolen from Russia. You fly through different areas on earth shooting through enemy MIGS and other obstacles encounter by enemy jet fighters. You also need to shoot Russia's infrared radar tracking target or you will get detected and enemy planes will try to destroy you. Look for refueling points to go further in the game. Flying at high alttitudes generate's less fuel points and more vulnerable to detection. Flying at low alttitudes generates more fuel points and less vulnerable to detection.

An arcade laserdisc game based on the 1982 film of the same name. Produced and released by Atari in 1983. This was Atari's first arcade game to use a laserdisc. Unfortunately, it was Atari's only game that uses a laserdisc that was commercially sold. Other Atari games that uses a laserdisc are Road Runner and Knight Rider. But they never made past the prototype stage.

I installed Direct X 11 on my Win7 PC and it did not improve Firefox at all. Can u please help me so I can play this? My laptop I am using to run this game has 4GB of ram.

I can't really help you with this. I told you before you need a more powerful PC to run laserdiscs games in MAME. You need more powerful CPU at least 3.0Ghz or better and a really good graphics card such as Nvidia GTX 280M or better. This is the best I can tell you.

@oldclassicgame Thanks anyway. But weirdly enough, Cube Quest run perfectly fine with no problems, But when I run Firefox, It slows down and almost no laserdisc video plays. Weird Huh?

Weird. You'll need to downgrade to mame 0.141 to play video background for firefox. As of mame 0.142, the dirver for this game is broken and was reported.

This game was twice as much as most other games in the arcade and about a billion times harder to play. I gave up early and would just stare at the attract mode.

@thepirategamerboy12 you need to run 'chdman' on your 'firefox.chd' with the command "chdman update firefox.chd" check the documentation for chdman (comes with every mame install)

I know it's a LD game but for 1983, this was impressive!

I also had no idea LD games worked in MAME ^_^

@oldclassicgame I downgraded MAME and Firefox works fantasticly (even better than Cube Quest). Thanks so much! I will be sure to make a vid of it.
