A few quick things, the Gold Series has 11 bearings vs 10 in the carbon black. The extra slot in the Gold Series case is there because when they first came out, they included an extra spool and that's where it goes. Also, the Gold Series came should have came with a reel cover which is a nice option. Performance wise they are about the same. I own 1 each in the JM signature line and they are all great reels.

Hey is there a big difference between this reel and the Johnny Morris carbon black reel? What are the performance differences?
Thanks

@bdog99049 To be honest not really the only difference is that the carbon black weighs about 1.1 more of an ounce than the sig. series, but they both have the same drag power and ball bearings. So the carbon black would probably be a better soend money wise, if you are thinking about buying a new reel you should consider the pro qualifier it is the best bang for buck reel usually running for 70-80 bucks, i have had mine for 3 years with no problems.
