@rfdangel001 You also lose energy to friction in the system, so air resistance is irrelevant as any friction at all in the system will cause energy loss. You cannot prevent friction occurring.

@rfdangel001 How do you propose he eliminate friction due to magnetic flux? Not use magnets?

maybe try sheilding with Mu metal and advancing or retarding the magnet position on one end of the arm while leaving the other end alone. Timing is everything. Maybe even try a 3 arm assembly and "stepping" the force applied from the magnets more progressively. Im a firm believer this can be done, I know it can. and your efforts into this expierment have far exceeded mine.
