  • Oh man that trombone is amazing! I love the whole piece, trumpet, bass, drums, piano, and clarinet! Can anybody tell me who the trombone player is?

  • I got chills

  • This joint's a jumpin!!!!

  • I love that growl from the muted trombone solo. Louis Armstrong is a beast!

  • i really love the trompett youknow .

  • Maravilloso, muchisimas gracias...

  • That is, indeed, the Canal Street Blues. Its just a different tempo and arrangement than normal.

  • Trummy Young and his Trombone..

    I Remember a vocal margie..

  • wish the bone solo was longer

  • Very very good blues number.

The excellent dippermouth dot blogspot covers various versions of Canal Street Blues by Louis (with music examples), including this 1962 version. He says this televised version started out as Canal Street Blues but quickly became a standard blues number because of a lack of rehearsal time. Read all about it in dippermouth's blog for January 23 2009.
