An overview of much of the tilt courses in the Royal Armouries' 2007 Queen's Golden Jubilee Trophy Jousts, held August 24-27, in Leeds England.

This was 3 full days of intensely competitive jousting amongst the worlds' ten top historical jousters and is the 7th year of the event. Weekend features a Friday Skill at Arms display, followed by two days of heats, then a final round on the bank holiday Monday. This years' tournament was won by Royal Armouries interpreter Arne Koets, originally of Amsterdam, Netherlands.

Be sure to catch the next Royal Armouries' Joust held Easter weekend 2008, March 20-24, the Sword of Honour Team Tournament. Last years' victors 'The Order of the Crescent' (Toby Capwell, Jeffrey Hedgecock and Steve Mallett) will defend their title against 3 other teams in a display of prowess in the world's oldest 'new' equestrian sport! Don't miss it!!

  • does any1 no if theres any schools in london?

  • Nothing in London I'm aware of, but my fellow Crescent brother Dominic Sewell is in Peterborough, about 1.5 hrs north. He's at Churchfield Farm, Peterborough PE7 2PA. Message me if you want more details. He runs a cavalry and jousting school there.

  • do u jousters joust with the regular points?

1 point- lance broken between the hips and the neck

2 points- if the lance is broken on the head

3 points if the other knight is unhorsed?

and if not what are the points?

  • 3 points for strike to breastplate or shoulders

    or

1 point for strike to arm or gauntlet

1 additional point for good horsemanship

1 additional point for breaking most of the tip

If you are unhorsed, you receive no points. That's not to say we don't try to unhorse each other with the solid portion of the lance, though it has only happened twice in my 6 years jousting there.

Swipes and Strikes to head or horse get no points.
