A tiny part of the hour long defilé/sfilato/parade done by up to 1,000 people before the start of the palio in Asti. Possibly the biggest and most amazing parade of people in medieval costumes I've seen to date. Held each years on the 3rd Sunday of September. Asti is just the perfect city to hold this with its stone cobbled streets its many palazzios and towers. The expert flag throwers are the sbandieratori (the banner-ers), it's one of the many surprising Italian traditions.
