  • Actually, cold water rises, so there's no stirring needed.

  • So warm water "falls"?

  • Yes. Cold water is less dense than warm water; that's why ice floats.

  • So what would a graph of the density of water look like (at constant atmospheric pressure)? I would think it would be a v shape, being most dense right before the freezing point...

  • Going to Wikipedia.... I'll be damned. "Fresh water at standard atmospheric pressure is most dense at 3.98 °C, and will sink by convection as it cools to that temperature, and if it becomes colder it will rise instead." (article on "water," section labeled "freezing point") You're right, I'm wrong. Good call.

  • Whew! (Not that I'm glad you're wrong, but I am glad that I am right!) : )

  • Is Pieroth Blue a Reisling? I love Reislings. Blue Nun is a good German Reisling. It just so happens to be in a dark blue bottle also.

  • Try Pieroth Blue. It is a German white wine in a dark blue bottle. It is so damn good.

  • When I want to just drink for "pacification":) ... I most often drink a (only one) very strong dark beer... just taste more interesting ... more flavour!
