  • I didn't know Emeril Lagasse was a musician

  • @BoeingB17FF You're right, Edison wasn't even born yet but I said "anything other than a violin or viola". I'm impressed that you have albums by those guitarists, you probably also have albums by John Williams, Sharon Isbin, Pepe Romero, and Eliot Fisk. I'm also sure you're listened to Mitic's rendition of Paganini's La Campanella, it's riviting. I salute you my friend...

  • @smokinbluzvalv While paganini probably never expected it as electricity wasn't even that commonplace, I don't think it would suprise him, and I wouldn't be suprised if he embraced it. while I like sticking to violins and violas, I greatly respect the work that people like Vai, Malmsteen, and Mitic do on electric guitars while giving a nod to the classical roots where it all started. I have works by all three guitarists.

  • @BoeingB17FF I mean if Yngwie Malmsteen and Boris Mitic can do it neo-classical metal style on electric guitars and do it real good, I call it musical evolution. I don't think Nicolo thought his pieces would be done on anything but a violin or viola when he wrote these pieces, maybe a classical guitar or lute...

  • @smokinbluzvalv Well, if you put it down to teh shamisen, my repsonse is "WTF? This made it to the Japanese intsruments? Hawt!" Anyone that respects the classical pieces that created the foundation for the pop/rock/metal/jazz music and plays it earns a tip of my hat. I'll stick with my viola and classical.

  • @BoeingB17FF you sir are as much a barouquefile as I am. I salute you... gotta love the the Monsters of Shamisen, right...

  • @smokinbluzvalv There's a heck of a lot more than 6... I'd say at least hundreds. How many can play it as well as Paganini might or as well as Perlman and Heifetz. Then maybe under 25.

  • Only 6 men in history could ever play all 24 caprices on the violin besides Paganini. The last one to do it was Itzak Perlman. I think Kevin Kmetz is related to Itzak... ya think... I'd love to do a recording with you Kevin...

  • sounds like a low-fi cross between banjo and sitar, but in a good way
