@VooDoo556nato The .308 and the 7.62x51 (7.62 Nato) are in fact NOT the same round but the differences are so slight that either is accepted in the rifles according to the SAAMI guidelines for safe operating pressures. Maybe YOU should do your homework.

@blackboxskater12 Theres only one caliber and thats the .308, your 30-30 doesnt have as much recoil because generally lever actions dont have as much, but your .308 kicks just a bit harder, but not as hard as a 30-06 or .300 win mag for sure.

what caliber rifle has more recoil than the 30-30 but not as bad aa a 30-06?

I use a 308 but I use Winchester silvertip ammo.

30-30, 308 , 30-06. 300 win mag is case length they all shoot 30 cal billets. The recoil does increase as you go up. The key thing is how you plan to shoot them.

150 gr soft nose for 30-30 killed big 173 pound whitetail
What's the difference between 7.62x51 and .308? I always though they were the same exact thing.

@Emaster03 I don't think so - I still see info that indicates there are minor diffeences. It's like 223 and 556, they are very close but have minor differences. Just enough to mean you need to double check the rifle to ensure it can handle the ammo to be safe.
