Michael Jordan became the fourth player in NBA history to score 30,000 points.
Jordan needed 15 points to reach 30,000, and he got it with the second of two free throws with 5:28 to go in the half, giving the Wizards a 45-31 lead. The game was halted for about 30 seconds during the next stoppage in play as the sellout crowd gave him a standing ovation, with several fans holding up large banners that read "Congratulations, Michael Jordan, 30,000 points."
Jordan joins Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (38,387), Karl Malone (33,654) and Wilt Chamberlain (31,419) as the only players to reach 30,000. Jordan scored 29,277 in 13 seasons with the Bulls.
