Acer one 8gig comes with a tiny 3cell 2200 battery? Dont get it.. Portable should mean portable.. Acer has a tiny brick power adpator with wires on both ends. eee has a single wire adaptor with the brick and plug all together.
I like both machines, but for everyday out in real world conditions. I would pick the asus eeepc 4gig webcam version with xp installed. Battery life 5hours. SMALL and cute.. Cheap 199 usd ONLINE to 299 usd local "target sells the 8.9 lcd version of the eeepc" 4 gig 8.9lcd no webcam dont know what battery comes with that machine tho. Check your battery specs before you buy as the eeepc has all different battery caps. 4400 5400 etc. I would take Battery life over a big screen anyday!!
Acer one 8gig needs more brightness settings at lower levels to save battery. at the lowest setting it still looks bright? The cover underside, PCI E connector is missing, so its just a waste. Keyboard nice a big, feels full size while typing. LCD is very Sharp, but has reflections. Sound Speakers are ver very tiny wear the eee wont sound tiny. either way they are both small speakers. eee sounds better. Annoying acer antivirus Mcaffe really slows the machine down. Get a simple antivirus..
own both asus eeepc and a acer one 8gig xp version. XP SP2 installed on my eeepc 4gig webcam version. Pros cons.
EEEpc came with a 5400 battery 4 5hrs lowered brightness-internet time- minus youtubing.
7in screen extends battery life LED lighting.
EEE 1x1in smaller, keyboard smaller, touchpad better Q. Hinges feel better and snap lid closed. Acer Touchpad mouse buttons are a pain, right click button travel is deeper then left? Battery life 2.5ish even at lowest brightness.
My computer whitch is my beloved Sony Vio or somthing got a LARGE virus(I didn't even Eccept anything!!!) and I was using the Eee and it was OK but the Acer has better webcam, Higher gig, longer battery, Faster loading time, Better keyboard, Smaller Charge pack, Extra UPB ports and can use NES or SNES Emulator.
