Heatwave was an international funk/disco musical band featuring American brothers Johnnie Wilder, Jr. and Keith Wilder of Dayton, Ohio, Englishman Rod Temperton, Spaniard Mario Mantese, Czechoslovakian Ernest 'Bilbo' Berger, Jamaican Eric Johns and Briton Roy Carter. "Boogie Nights" and "Ain't No Half Steppin'" were from their 1976 debut album, "Too Hot to Handle". "Boogie Nights," the group's first single, became one of the most well-known disco songs and charted at #2 in both the US and UK. The song's writer, Heatwave's keyboardist Rod Temperton, later became better-known for his songwriting for other artists, penning award-winning songs for some of funk's biggest names, including Rufus and The Brothers Johnson. He also wrote for Herbie Hancock and Quincy Jones, but his most famous partnership remains the one forged with Michael Jackson, writing three songs for his 1979 Epic album "Off The Wall" and three songs for the 1982 LP "Thriller," including the title track.
