  • @ammarios So, your laws are different than mine. I thought so.

Well, I'm not sure whether or not I have completely lost this argument, but it's clear that I've lost, anyway (not too badly, but not that well, in my opinion). That's ok. I can admit defeat.

I apologize that this didn't turn into a reasonable argument. I need to work on this. I have won arguments on YouTube (not much of an accomplishment), but I have lost some as well.

  • @chiboy3000 As for debating skills, don't worry, those things come with practice.

I'm glad you at least ARE questioning things (according to you).

The burden of proof must always be there as a requirement on the shoulders of those who make claims (like religious ones) before people start believing them.

  • @chiboy3000 And trust me on this, nothing , not even religion (in fact, ESPECIALLY not religion, because religion is unique in that it asks that you believe without evidence or proof) is nor ever should be exempt from criticism, scrutiny and yes, even satire and ridicule. I agree with anti-hate laws, however, I do only because I know that they do not attempt to shield us from "offensive" speech, but only that which incites actual public danger.

  • @chiboy3000 You are incorrect. You are completely misinterpreteing the law. Also, I'm Canadian, so I suspect our definitions of the laws would be different.

But then again, "offensive" is a subjective term. Anyone can claim something to be offensive. But freedom of expression protects offensive speech as well, (like shows like Family Guy, South Park..etc).

Also, why not? If you have an answer for the question of religion, I have no doubt you would've provided it with no hesitation.

  • @ammarios "So, just because I'm a teenager, I lack knowledge?"

Let me rephrase this. Just because I'm a teenager, it means that I automatically have less intelligence than that of an adult?

My debating skills aren't the best because I'm inexperienced. I do need more practice, though.

This isn't the point. You are entitled to an opinion, but if you say anything offensive against a protected group, that is not part of freedom of speech. This is in the law itself, not my opinion.

  • @ammarios Good point about the questioning part. I thought so myself, but that isn't why I asked that question.

I asked it because what you said has nothing to do with what I started with from the beginning.

I'm talking about being offensive to a protected group. I don't want to discuss religion because it isn't necessary here.

  • @chiboy3000 I am attempting to show you the illogic of your statements.

And actually, this was about many things, and yes, religion is one of them.

Why shouldn't I question your religion? I have every right to question your religion, just as you have every right to either reply to the questions or ignore them.

"Religion" is not exempt from scrutiny, criticism and questioning. If it was, there would be no dialogue and progress would never be made.

  • @ammarios So, just because I'm a teenager, I lack knowledge?

You really need to read up on freedom of speech if this comment of yours is what you think.

I'm not stifling your opinion. I'm saying that you have NO right to slander religion.

You have made good points, I admit, but they have nothing to do with what I'm talking about. This isn't about religion. It never was. This is about offensive comments towards religion. Why are you questioning my religion just because you don't agree with it?

  • @chiboy3000 What I'm saying is that you should base your beliefs on evidence, logic and rationality (and reason).

It is very easy to simply believe what you are told, without ever challenging it. It is MUCH more intelligent to question everything, and make it a point to make sure that whatever you are taught can measure up on the scales of reason and rationality.

  • @chiboy3000 Well, let's put the insults and ad-hominem aside.

"This is what I was taught". Well, just because you were taught something doesn't mean that it is automatically correct, or that you shouldn't use your intelligence to scrutinize and analyze the things you are taught against logic and reason and rationality. Think about that for a moment. How can everything have a creator, yet the creator is unexplained, and you are told to "just believe it".
