  • Unions were formed, in the early 1800's. Unions do not suck money from the companies, they get money from dues paying members. Today they are automatically taken from paychecks. Some places, GM, make you be a dues paying member for a year before they give any "Union protection". And guess what. The members do not determine what their dues will be, the unions use that at the "bargaining table". Today the only power a union has is to strike. and we all have seen that strike work SO well (sarcasm).

  • some unions are "bad" and others are "good". unions were formed in the thirty's to unite the workers. today some just suck money from the company's. they are a a necessary thing to more or less "keep company's in check". its fatheads like rooftopidiot that spout out against unions and havent a clue what its all about, just what he listens to in his own screwed up world. as far as obsolesce of unions, that's a on going study. some jobs you need them, others you don't.

  • My father is retired from GM, he was on the management side (not Union) and he is loosing some benefits, retired union guys are loosing more! Also, My College Thesis was on the obsolescence of Unions, so I can side with you there.
