Yes, he did get some attention.
But, does that "attention" buy himself anything good? I mean like: money, job, honor, house, car, ...... ? Seems only thing he got is the "spiritual". Hope he didn't get anything like nightmare, mental stress. sleep problem, heart attack, high blood pressure, ...... .
It looks to me that he's been used by some cheap liars.

"I wanna be arrested" LOL... I told you nothing is gonna happen to you... they can only scare and threaten you and than deport you.

They can't lock you up for good cause your an american and you told all the media in America about you beforehand... so if they lock you up that would bring to much pressure on them and that's the last thing they wan't.

So don't think they deported you cause they ain't evil they are - they are just not stupid either...
