  • hey, great movie - I was wondering if you could add some info: I'm coming to LA for 3 months (January-march) . I'm a medical student coming to ucla\ceder sinai hospital and I'm trying to understand if biking to the hospital every day will be convenient or is the traffic too hard. I'm still trying to figure out where to live too - so I guess that has an effect on it. Thinking about westwood but really looking for good advice. Thanks!

  • @MarshDondurma Thank you! If you live in Westwood, obviously the commute to the UCLA Medical Center would be simple. The Cedar Sinai one is longer, but definitely doable. Check out the LADOT city bike maps. I'm sure you'll figure out the best personal route as you explore the specific areas. Also, here's a map charting some UCLA bicycle commuters from 2008. In addition, most of our buses have bike racks so you could do a combo of bike/bus on your commute.

  • Seeing this now for the first time. Good stuff! Each day we're seeing more and more bikes here in Phoenix, partly because of the new ASU campus and the Phoenix light rail. Although there are more people riding, there still are not enough safe bike zones on city streets.

I grew up in LA, it's been 15 years since I've been back. I don't recall there being such a big bike culture. Kudos to everyone who advocates for bikes and bike safety in LA.

  • @LightRailBlogger Thanks for your comment!! Yes, bike culture is flourishing in Los Angeles, and we're glad that you like our little film. It was great to feature Herbie and Mihai; Mihai devotes much of his free time to bike advocacy, and Herbie is studying to become a professional bicycle planner. They're passionate about encouraging people to ride.
