45 gallon tall tank of Malawi Cichlids. natural stone gravel, 2xcascade 350's flowing 700 gallons per hour - hard water, pH 7.8, temp @ 79F. Strong air pump puts out a bubble screen on the right side of the tank giving the water a natural current pulling to the left. Decorations are lava rocks and sandstone and several other hideouts. 10 Malawi Cichlids are in currently, most range from 3 to 5 inches. They are fed ghost shrimp, guppies, brine shrimp/krill - all live. Also feed some frozen brine shrimp, krill, spirula, and color enhancing pellets.
i see you feed your cichlids mostly live food. From my experience and reading, mbunas are mostly herbivorous, and require large amounts of vegetable matter in their diet, otherwise risking malawi bloat. What are your opinions on this, since you seem to have such a beautiful and healthy tank?

I've never lost a fish to malawi bloat - malawi bloat is caused by a combination of overfeeding and excessive protein in the diet. I usually fed brine shrimp about twice a week, with rosy reds being added into the mix for the larger fish. Ghost shrimp are also good on the menu. Each species is different, some handle protein better than others. With the exception of the Kenyi's in this tank, every fish can handle the protein load, as they also received flake and pellets.
