@jalabotey Uh, probably because it serves the Washington metropolitan area. Are you also pissed off that Reagan National isn't in DC but in Arlington? Are you not also aware that MOST major airports are not located within the city limits of the city they serve?

Next time put your copyright in the cornor of the video in faded letters. This totally ruins the video.

I got to see this wonderfullness yesterday as air france landed its first leg of plane of this a380 yesterday! :)

@RazooGiving I think it's just common sense to have an international airport located at a considerable distance from the city it serves. As expected, lots and lots of huge airplanes land and take off many times a day. It wouldn't be wise to have such massive airplanes landing right in the middle of the city.

Incorrect - IAD is a DC airport... IAD services international flights to the DC area as flights originating over 1250 miles DO NOT fly into DCA (National). So, IAD is DC's internation airport.

@jalabotey it isn't in Chantly, its in Dulles, VA. and its considered DC's airport cause its 20 minutes away from dc and Regan which is downtown is national and for private planes. hope that answered it for you:).

Singapore Airlines, Quantas, Emirates, Air France, Lufthansa. Others following. Due to the size this plane is just used for spotting big international hubs.

maybe everyone knows this, but I am really surprised to see that the A380 only uses engines 2 and 3 for reverse thrust. Does anyone know why?
why does everbody consieders IAD to be in washington when its in chantly VA

Because they try hard to sell themselves as DC's airport, or a alternative to National... (actually they are managed under one org now I believe.) As does the old "Friendship Airport" which many years ago changed it's name to "Baltimore Washington International" :-)

Oh, Dad and most of the 'spotters' have scanners, we program all the frequencies they airport uses. You are just hearing my dad's handheld scanner standing next to me.
