In Hans Christian Andersens classic tale, a vain emperor cares about nothing but parading around in one new suit of clothes after another. When a couple of swindlers convince the emperor that they are magic weavers whose thread becomes invisible to those who may be stupid or unfit to hold office, the emperor seizes the opportunity to test members of his royal court. However, the plan backfires as his stupidity is vividly demonstrated when he parades into town clad in invisible clothes.
