The great tenor saxophonist Sonny Rollins and the master trumpeter "the Dizz" perform together. Very rare presentation. From my private collection, enjoy...

  • This tune is called "Wheatleigh Hall". Gillespie and Rollins first recorded this for an album called "Duets" recorded in the late 1950's.

  • Wow, what a great classic video! Thank you..

  • Saw them play both at the Heineken jazz festival 86 or 87 . . . amazing!

  • Wow!

  • Whereas I don't like such kind of bass-sound, do I love this rarest of all meetings: Dizzy & Sonny. Just great to see and hear them together. Thaks for posting this video. -- Okay, that's the way they recorded such groups in the 1980's. By the way: It's Rufus Reid, just for the record.

  • Rufus Reid and Mickey Roker have played together on a whole lot of gigs, as is obvious here.
