Here you see a East bound NS (CofGa) train just begining the long, slow crawl up Trammells Hill on the East end of Sylacauga, AL as it passes what the NS refers to as "The Brickyard". The first train horn you here is the EARY (Eastern Alabama Railway) pulling a cut of cars into town to deliver to the NS. Many years ago there use to be a brick manufacturing plant here and the CofGa had a spur into the facility. Bama Budwieser has been on the location for many years since with the same spur being used for their business. This spur was pulled up a couple of years ago and is now gone.

  • y does NS have theyre ditch lights flash when other railroads dont?

  • @SuperCoolDMan Other railroads actually do use flashing ditch lights. Not all, but some. The ditch lights flash only when they approach grade crossings, when the horn first starts blowing. After the train passes the grade crossing, the crew stops the flashing.

  • Awesome video!!! I love that amazing classic freight train horn! It must be fun filming trains right on their tracks! Do you ever see the crew inside? I rarely see things like this! Thanks for posting!

  • See the crew? I talk to them all of the time! Oh yeah, I see them all of the time.

  • Well that's good for you! It must be fun seeing the engineers and the conductors! They are hard workers!
