I think Laura made a big mistake getting involved with Luke. After 25 years, he just caused her a lifetime of grief. We got Lucky and Lulu from them and gave these characters jobs, but in the real world, Laura should have put him away. This really makes me not like Luke Spencer.

Well, no he didn't actually. Scott didn't believe it was rape, he believed that Laura was having an affair. Then Luke and Laura took off for the summer. Laura reported the rape but didn't name Luke as the attacker.

That meaness and rudeness is all a big act of bravado on Luke's part, to protect himself from his deep love for Laura, while knowing he can't have her because she belongs to someone else. He was really totally devastated by the rape and what it did to Laura -- he couldn't believe that he hurt her like that, this angel that he loved so much. But I agree that he really does go back and forth between acting nasty and distant, and loving and vulnerable!
