He was lucky because the sensor line is a little bit before the checkered line. You can see a kind of division in the asphalt before the checkered line. That's the sensor line :p. Considering that in most times the sensor is positioned on the driver's seat, you can see that his sensor (seat) crossed the line before the other driver. I fking hope you understood what I mean cus my english is not so good :x
