i remember this show, too, if it's the maxwell's show. it seemed like they were getting "really popular" being at a relatively big place like maxwells. before that they were in really small bars, i remember one show on the upper west side, near columbia was where i saw them first time and fell over because i thought i'd seen the greatest rock band ever. still makes me a little faint.
I still have El Rauncho Grande and Whap A Dang on LP. Great trashy raunch and roll. Of course I had to order the stuff from Japan to get it on CD. Somebody should get that stuff out in the States...
I saw these guys just once, about 20 + years ago. I think it was a Rock Hotel show in nyc. I want to say at Irving Plaza. They might have been opening for Social D or the Vandals. (my memory is shot, sorry). Whoever they opened for, it just wasn't their crowd that night and someone beaned the singer in the face with an orange. They just kept rockin' though. I thought they were great.
they should have been given a lot more recognition than they received while they were together..... If they had come out with this type of material in the April 2009 timeframe it would stand out against most of the music being cast upon us by the record companies of today.
oh yeersssssss! rave....
