What you're talking about at the end there is actually something taught in yoga. I'm probably going to mess this all up, but let's aim for the basic gist: You HAVE to focus on yourself first, and becoming the strongest incarnation of yourself that you can be, because otherwise you are inflicting all of your flaws and fears and junk onto everyone else. It is actually MORE selfish to refuse to heal and continue trying to work with a broken soul. I think :)
