Their giant windmills are seen by thousands of Turnpike drivers in Somerset County every day, but FPL's biggest wind farm is here in Wayne County. • @BeeRich33 re: turbans. The energy produced is all controlled by how you wrap them.

  • Ever notice most all of these videos were made in PA?

  • @grofuss Valid points. If you pursue this, one thing to consider is transport. Now the plant in question is only 43 units, others like Top Of Iowa are in the hundreds. Most turbines being installed today either come from Colorado (Vestas), or in N. Carolina/FL/CA(GE). Once produced, they are loaded most times onto trains for an intermediate destination. These destinations are for storage and distribution of parts for multiple local sites. The final trip, under 100 miles is by truck.

  • Turbans? You get energy from Indian hats?

  • And how much conventional energy (i.e. fossil fuel burning) does it take to manufacture each windmill? What's the lifespan of a windmill? I'm just interested in ratios... Yes it's clean production of energy, but the "net-gain" may not be so exciting.
