There have been seed banks ever since we started genetically modifying plants - breeding certain strains of corn or potatoes for instance. Every type of seed that can be gathered are stored in case there is some kind of worldwide epidemic that might affect the crops we currently grow - that way we can try and breed a strain that is resistant and carry on feeding the earth. NOTHING suspicious about seed banks.
