"time to let it out"- ORIGINAL by sam r.

this is actually a poem that i wrote for the CREATIVE IMPULSE magazine at my highschool. it's basically just a collection of random poems, and drawings that students created. i'm pretty jazzed that my poem made it in because they get a lot of submissions and they don't put everyone in. :)

anyways, my buddy CHYNNA gave me the idea to make my poem into a song, so here it is.

LYRICS/POEM:

Sometimes i wonder why,
Why things are the way they are.
Sometimes i wonder why,
Why everyone hides their fears in a jar.

What happened to being strong?
What happened to being self-reliant?
Now everyone just tries to belong.
No one likes to be defiant.

I think it's time for people to speak,
Time for them to stop hiding their tears.
People need not turn the other cheek,
They must instead face their fears.

I suppose nowadays no one wants to stand out.
They would much rather blend in with the crowd.
However they must be heard, they must shout!
In order to be heard, they must be loud.

But I suppose it is easier for them.
Easier to be invisible rather than seen.
They fear if they speak up, the public will condemn.
So when someone tries to talk, please don't be mean.
Let them say what they need to say,
Don't you dare push them away.
Because one day, it could be you who needs to speak up.
So i suggest you not tell others to shut up.
