@jobarules25 I know it's great.

No problem, its nice to know that discussions/debates can still be had without someone taking advantage of being behind a computer screen to verbally abuse ppl without even making a point.
In any case, i would say the FG thing is circumstantial. If there's only a few minutes left, and the offense DOES make the 1st down they should try running the clock out at that point. I'll admit the Pats get too pass-happy sometimes.
I like the featured video on your channel btw... good stuff.

@bobshenix i gotta tell you man your go for the 1st down instead of the FG thing was one of the most interesting things i have ever heard. im glad i can have conversation with someone on youtube that isnt a complete idiot. thanks for the debate.

Well i respect your opinion... and agree with you in some cases like late in the game running the clock out and what not. But especially when playing for the home crowd i think it is unreasonable for offenses to literally "try to not score" when playing in the 3rd or early 4th quarter with a big lead.
Im biased being a lifelong Pats fan from RI, but Bill B. is the man and its hard for me to find faults in the guy. He had his reasons in 2007 when running the score was at its worst.

@bobshenix and early in the season you dont run a lot of plays because you dont want all of your cards on the table. if i am right you guys play the jets this weekend.... belichick wouldnt want to put too much out on film for the jets and other teams to see (but thats just common sense)
-
@bobshenix the only way i would ever agree with the FG thing is if teams actually didnt try to score once they picked up that first down. if you are up late and you are pushing for a TD vs a FG thats not cool. but teams rarely do that with the intention to run down the clock.
and 35 attempts for passing isnt exactly just a few attempts it may seem like that to you because you watch the pats all of the time.
-
Well they did run the ball a lot in the second half of the Cincy game last Sunday, they were up huge to start the second half and i would not say they ran up the score in that game. Plus Cincy started coming back anyway so they had every right to at least try for some first downs!!
And you don't have to agree with me, but do you at least see where i'm coming from with the whole "at least give the D a chance to stop you rather than grabbing an easy 3 pts" logic?? It makes sense.

thats what running up the score is. scoring when there is no possible chance that the other team can win be arent talking about the 3rd quarter because there is still a chance for a comeback. the PATS like to run up the score whenever they can period.
running up the score is still running up the score regardless of whether it is practice or not. its ok to keep your offense on the field but dont rub winning in the other teams face by scoring when the game is already out of reach

Yes, but when your as good as the Patriots sometimes there is a blowout situation early in the Third quarter... so even if playing at home a team is supposed to literally just run the clock out because they are up by too much???
At the very end, sure. But during the game no way!!! Bill uses these comfortable leads as a "practice" to work on weaknesses or new things. In football the idea is to keep your offense on the field, and your defense off the field...
This is a man's game!
