Chelnov Atomic Runner (human power plant) - arcade game - 1988

Atomic Runner Chelnov (Nuclear Man The Fighter Fighting Human Power Plant) is a side scrolling action arcade game developed and published by Data East released in year 1988. The player takes the role of Chelnov, a coal miner who miraculously survives the explosion of a nuclear power plant. Chelnov's body gains superhuman abilities due to the massive amount of radiation given off by the explosion and a secret organization seeks to harness those abilities for its own evil purposes. Chelnov must battle and defeat the secret organization using his newfound abilities. Chelnov's movements is controlled with the 8-way joystick and 3 buttons to attack, jump, or turn around running backwards. Six types of weapons can be obtained during the game and collect power-ups. This game was later ported to the Sega Megadrive Genesis.

I've never played Chelnov for the Arcade, but from what i once read it was criticized at the time for being based off of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster, i think thats why the remade Mega Drive version had a lot of changes made to the story?

I love Atomic Runner on the Mega Drive as it's a fantastic game and holds a hell of a lot of Awesome memorys. =)

In Japan, this is one of the first few Data East games that pop into the minds of Japanese gamers, along with Karnov, Fighter's History series (especially Fighter's History Dynamite) and Trio The Punch. In North America, most gamers think of BurgerTime, Bad Dudes VS. DragonNinja, and Caveman Ninja/Joe & Mac.

Too bad Paon is unable to bring back Chelnov along with Karnov and a few other Data East games they bought, besides the newest Glory of Heracles game being planned for worldwide release.

Yes! Yes! Awesomeness!!! This game looks sooo beautiful on the Genny. I didn't even know it was an arcade port. =)
