Sudbury CCAC is responsible by our government to dedicate home health care services to terminally ill patients like myself. This is the introductory video in a series detailing the health care crisis you may face when deciding to die at home with dignity and palliative care.

As a palliative care patient declared to be in the "end of life" series of life stages I have now been without any nursing or personal support services since Nov. 20th.
A friend, power of attorney and a skydiver is currently keeping me alive -literally alone because;

This agency put my file on "temporary" suspension of services
on Nov. 20th when I refused to sign a contract specific to me, detailing that I will give up my human rights to dignity, safety, proper health care and the right to make complaints to the proper authorities if my life is compromised. Furthermore, 2 criminal charges were included-to which I had to admit guilt-in order to lift the health care suspension. These charges disturb me because the incidents never occurred, were never reported/complained, the police were never contacted nor was I ever charged or found guilty of these criminal acts. These were a direct attempt to undermine my personal integrity which resulted in no agency wanting to service me without ever talking to me, or investigating these 'allegations' (even CCAC admits they were "allegations" of threatening and harrassment which they have never investigated or received complaints for).

Now I am still without services today Jan 13, 2009.
Since Nov. 20th 2007, I have had to stay i my own filth for there is no one able to help me.

  • The only reason I can see someone taking offense to this is because they weren't doing their job accordingly. Now I can only hope Minna gets the care she so desperately needs. I hope for her sake someone patient comes to her aide. I am not located in Sudbury anymore but I assure you if I was I would approach Minna myself and offer my PSW services which can also be covered by the government on a private basis. Good luck Minna, my thoughts and prayers are with you!!!

  • how does this private basis work?

where do I apply for it?

  • Would you mind adding captioning or linking to a transcript of these videos for those of us with hearing difficulties? Thanks...

  • thank you for the important comment, i tried a different format for the 3rd video.

It incorporates photos, written word, and music suggesting the 'theme'.

it's certainly not the the greatest-i will keep working on it. ok.

an how to add captions to this one-can you message me if you know how?

    thanks,

  • Hi Minna,

  • Something needs to be done to stop these people and make them accountable.

  • I live in the USA and thought Canadian healthcare was easier than here. Even if you have a criminal record that doesn't effect your hospice care. Unfortunately unless you are wealthy or have private insurance through your job you just do without unless you get state/county assistance but you have to basically be homeless to get that help.

  • this is sad. We are used to healthcare and hospice care as a population but what about when it fails us? My great grandma took to her bed and passed in the night, her children died in hospitals and passed under heavy sedation. Up until recent times, the majority of humans have died unaided. It's not like childbirth where there could be complications. Nature takes it's course. No one should be denied aid on their death bed, thank God for her skydiver friend.

  • move to england like every one else who gets a raw deal in their country

  • I am not positive on where to contact to gt this type of serice. I do, however, know that it does exist. Maybe the long-term care offices of Ontario can tell you. I will look online for you and if I find it I will email you with my findings. Take Care Minna!!

  • I've sent you a private message with more details.

  • thank you for your generous thoughts :)
