  • I have this recording! Its magnificent! Love the sea rolling in: I was in hospital once, and was very close to passing on. I dreamt that I heard this being sung, from a Holy Island somewhere across the mist shrouded sea. I recovered, and a few years later my girlfriend and I found ourselves caught between tides on Lindisfarne, the Holy Island! She asked what we were to do for 5 hrs. It was like a waking dream4me, this music playing over'n'over in my mind. That and a good dinner to boot! lol Bob

  • This forty piece motet is superb. Tallis was a roman catholic and wrote this piece for Queen Elizabeth I. The words themselves asks, as far as Tallis dares, to be less intolerant of his faith. Or so the accompanying verbosity says on my CD version.

  • Sublime choral composition, ably performed by the Tallis Scholars. I have performed some of the world's gretest music...but not this. A cartain vacancy there...
