So is this the way the Engine is supposed to sound? Mine clicks like that a little bit too.. Still under warranty. I just bought it. Didn't know if I should take it into BMW, or if this is what its supposed to sound like. I'm not used to the twin cams and wasn't sure if they were the cause of the "mechanical" sound... Help?

that clicking noise, just aint cool, e46 six cylinder engines sounded way better

lifter noise. It is normal if engine is cold. It is a small design issue but doesn't affect engine health. BMW can fix this also by replacing entire head.
The fact is if you have a cabrio is not nice noise to live with...

it is a problem, there is a TSB out for the hydraulic lifters on that engine. Visit any e92 BMW forum, you will see many pages of it.

335i is an aluminum block engine. can be a little noisy when warm. if it goes away when it warms up, shouldnt be a problem
Long live BMW!
