It didn't self destruct, two parts just fell off of it.
And the line "The DakTakLakPak Vivisector slef-destructs in an orgy of mechanical rapture" is one of the stupidest video game quotes I've ever heard, up there with "All toasters toast toast" from Hotel Mario.
