In the search for a usable setting on the DMM, I stumbled across a nice flanger setting. Knowing there was no way to commit it to memory, I took a quick vid of it. Just a short blurb of Joy Division/New Order's "Ceremony" to sample it.

  • Is this an original or a new re-issue?

  • The earlier reissue with the attached power cord.

  • Hey Jahnli, thanks for the video. I really want to get this thing bad. I've heard complaints about it being a tone suck, is that true? Or does it make it sound just more 80s? If I do get it I'm going with the analogman mod, but that's supposed to correct the "tone suck" issue...which I'm concerned will actually fix the "retro" sound I'm looking for.

  • Yes, the DMM tone sucks whether it's on or off. If you want to make sure you keep that vintage tone sucky thing going, don't fool with it, just put it in a true bypass effects loop by using something like a Keeley Looper on your board. Never owned one modded by Analogman, can't help there sorry!

  • post the full song. This was great to hear.

  • Took another shot at it, I linked the full song under Video Responses.

  • @javiceres The analog Boss pedals of the 80s are great. The newest ones are not to my liking, and perhaps that's why I don't particularly like the sound of their new albums!

  • @Ombrenuit OMG,that's terrible!

    I HATE Boss pedals ;)

Really, most of them suck tone like basterds, I guess the Japanese ones where better though.

Lots of artists use Boss pedals but they have their tecnicians to modify them so they don't kill tone (whether on or bypass). I think they sell that good partially because they are easy to mod.

Once I had a Japanese Boss DD3 and I hated it to bits, nothing like "almost analog".

I have read they use this DiAna pedal live though and they endorse it.

  • @javiceres Don't know about that. From what I've seen they've exclusively used boss pedals since the late 80s on.

  • @Ombrenuit I love this pedal but recently I've come across a Dytone DiAna delay pedal that sounds a lot like an echoplex/tape delay and The Cure are supposed to use it nowdays.

  • Any one who plays New Order is ok in my book! Nice work, I like the flang!

  • Actually the reissue with an AC adaptor (get one now-they're discontinued!! T_T) is true bypass.

  • One of the best Pedal ,and one the best songs ever!!

I really envy your amp man !! Well done !!!

  • this is why events unnerve me
