Some of the Sun Microsystems guys put OpenSolaris ZFS filesystem to the test. They had already destroyed one disk with a sledge hammer but the PC kept on running. Pretty neat stuff.

  • Please give me the HD i destroy it so , that you can anymore restore this. I use a 5-axis CNC millig machine :)

  • What would be more impressive would be to open the disk case and let the drive run for a few hours and later verify the data against a known good copy!

  • Mitä helvettiä! :D

  • this is why every major computer company is trying to implement ZFS, it is bloody amazing in terms of damage control. People are migrating terabytes of data to ZFS simply because you can not break it. I even see the OpenBSD/FreeBSD people doing this now and I think Apple already released ZFS for their storage. Mayny next they can take a flamethrower to a few disk arrays and fry all the disks to see if the multiple copy and mirrors and RAIDZ can survive the fires of hell.

  • OMFG!!
