A ripple effect of love
Tzu Chi's fundraising drive for Japan is continuing apace around the world. Volunteers can be seen holding collection boxes on the streets, regardless of how good or bad the weather is. In our next story we go to Argentina, the United States, Malaysia and Thailand, to see how that love is creating a ripple effect.
Young and old collect cash
We go to North America next, where Tzu Chi volunteers young and old took to the streets and supermarkets to canvass for donations. While volunteers were out raising funds in California, a kind-hearted passerby reminded them to keep warm. And a Japanese mother-daughter pair joined the volunteers to make a contribution to their country.
8/8 floods victims send love to Japan
Southern Taiwan was hard hit by Typhoon Morakot in 2009. Tens of thousands of people's lives were affected. But with the aid of charity organizations, survivors are standing up again. In Linbian Township, a sewing workshop, established by the Hondao Foundation, gave women an opportunity to work, and care for their families, at the same time. And after the Japan earthquake, the women decided to auction their handicrafts, to help the Japanese disaster victims in return.
