Stalingrad is a 1993 film by Joseph Vilsmaier, which depicts the horrors of combat on the Eastern Front of World War II in a realistic and unromanticized fashion.
The movie follows a platoon of German Army soldiers as they are transferred from Italy and recent experiences in North Africa, to Russia where they ultimately find themselves unwilling participants in the Battle of Stalingrad.
The film was shot in several different locations, including Finland, Italy, and the Czech Republic.
The film is the second German attempt to portray the battle of Stalingrad in a movie. It is predated by the 1959 movie Hunde, wollt ihr ewig leben (English: Stalingrad: Dogs, Do You Want to Live Forever?/Battle Inferno).

  • Germans should just hibernate like bear till spring as Manstein insisted but Hitler ordered them not to sleep. I read this in Beevor's book.

  • The film is the best to show the incredible suffering and pain of german soldiers (but russian and citizens also). I have read a lot about the WWII and specially over Stalingrad battle. I am an Uruguayan born, and I feel a great empatia to the German soldiers. God let rest in pece all of them!

  • @SolarTC Wow fucking great english you got there...

  • @AlexThePrivate hitler should have stuck to propaganda and let his more experienced generals take command

that way germany might have won against the russians

  • @Cheburashka207 My hope for you is, that you are not 35. If you are, you should sit down and calmly think about killing yourself. And for the sake of god, please do not put any children of yours in this world.

But you know, they are able to help people like you today. Not the way of help I have in mind, but they do.

God bless your poor soul and stupid mind.
