What to see when going to Ayutthaya shortly after the roads have been re-opened.

Unfortunately, not much... the place is pretty much "destroyed" by the water, the historic center of the city is beyond access.. the road ends in mud, and all you can see a big tractor covered in water up to its engine, at least 1,5-2m deep.

People are living wherever they can find a dry spot on the road, so they can lift a tent. I found many people living in the parking lot of Bic C, near the entrance of the city, and since the market is still open and "fully functional", that serves as kinda of a shelter for everyone, with food, drinks, bathroom. A lot of people are still living in the main highway, in the higher areas. As someone said on Twitter, that is heartbreaking... to say the least. At the same time, the fancy people from Central Bangkok, who barely had to wet their feet, all went on holidays in Cha-Am, Hua Hin and Pattaya, and they call themselves "flood victims"... makes me laugh. Even foreigners on holidays seem to be "working harder" to help others than some of the thai and foreigners who live in the city... :\
