On 4/22/10 Verizon contractors installed conduit which will be filled with fiber later.

Essentially what they do is dig a hole every 20-40 feet, and then using an air-powered torpedo thing "bore" a hole about 4" diameter between the holes, then push conduit and a copper wire (used only for buried utility locator support) through the bored hole. Most holes are then simply filled in (the conduit passes through them), some holes (including the one in the center of this time lapse) get a buried 'box', which will later be opened and fiber pulled through and for installer (last 50' installation) access.
