Enjoy this super-close-up HD footage of our nearest space neighbor as it moves across the sky in realtime - very clear and with an excellent view of craters and other surface geography. Heatwaves in the Earth's atmosphere provide a slight, wavy distortion, adding to the surreal view.

Filmed with a tripod-mounted Canon 5D Mk2 and Opteka 650-1300mm lens using a 2x optical teleconverter for a total 2600mm focal length.

The soundtrack is a portion of "Bio (Dream Mix)" from the "Random" CD by Technician (yours truly), album and single track available on http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/random/id416812703 full artist discography and CDs available at HTTP://technician.jcmdi.com

  • @KakHazhar Thanks for stopping by =) CHeers!

  • wow!

  • magnifique

  • @SunnyShawFilms Filming the moon can be really tricky, but with a LOT of experimentation and patience it's possible to get some pretty cool shots... Unfortunately we never get to see the dark side of the moon without a spacecraft, because it never rotates that side towards the Earth, but with over and under-exposure techniques it's possible to see the shaded parts in "Earth light" and horizons fairly well. Thanks for checking it out!

  • how come your lens can see the dark side of moon wtf,

  • Beautiful

  • your music is superior and yet doesn't flaunt the fact.

  • This is incredible footage...it is amazing to see the moon in such high definition..I also love your Ambient Music which you use to accompany your videos..very relaxing and really fit in well with your films

  • very beautiful :)

  • @myusernamesucks4evr This lens is comparable to buying a small telescope and mounting your camera to it. It's a simple 600mm - 1300mm sliding tube arrangement, and comes with a 2x optical teleconverter which can be threaded-on to double the focal length to a max 2600mm. It's not bad considering the low price. However, the optical quality is OK at best, focusing is very touchy, and it needs a rock-solid heavy-duty tripod and bright subject to get decent results. Cheers!
