Hallstatt, Austria. We were walking down the mountain back to town when we suddenly heard the local brass band playing Christmas carols in the main square. With the sun setting behind the mountains, the lights of the town starting to twinkle, and the music drifting up to us, it made for a rather magical moment. You may have to turn up the volume a bit to hear the music, but in the last scene, shot down in the main square, there are church bells that are quite loud.

  • hello dears!

I'm a 15-year-old boy who lives in Hallstatt!

And it's quite nice to live there, but there are many things you don't like as a person who lives in Hallstatt!

As a tourist it must be famous to visti, but be happy not to live there!

It's very cold in winter ;)

  • Yes, it IS cold, but you just have to wear warm clothes. I grew up in a small town in the country, so I know it is not always fun for young people to live there. But is truly is a beautiful place to visit.

  • Quite magical.

Very touching in its simplicity and the way it captures the essence of an Austrian Christmas.

    The "dislikes" astonish me

  • Thanks for sharing that beautiful moment, truly magical. My wife and I traveled there by car in 2002 BC (Before Children). We will return when they are old enough to travel. They are 7 now, just about old enough but before they become teenagers..

  • Great video!

    Truly magical.

I've been to Ha;;statt 3 times, but never in the winter, looks like I need to start planning!

  • That would be so cool to be in Europe for Christmas if you were from the US! I would have thought there would be more snow but i see the comments about it being very cold. Thank for sharing!

  • Austria is a gorgeous country....I was there the year the Pope died...in Vienna on that day...one of the few occasions the churches all ring their bells at once...for an hour straight. Hallstatt and Salzburg are a must...as is the train thru the alps, by which I took a train to Venice, Italy...big pimpin.

  • this is beautiful.People there must be so happy.

  • Absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!!!

  • Thanks for this, we were in Hallstatt exactly a year before you, it brought back a lot of memories. Its a beautiful place.
