League Certified Instructors Brian DeSousa (rear) and Dan Gutierrez (front) were buzzed by a motorcyclist who passed a us way too closely within the lane at very high speed, leaving only a foot of clearance to Dan's left shoulder.

  • When I percieve a scooter approaching from behind, and its still pretty far back, I sometimes do a little weaving to increase my perceived cross section. This can persuade them to change lanes.

However, I rarely deal with the velocity deltas seen in this video. At that high a difference, about the best that can be done is hold the line and hope for marginal competence. Even Brian's rightward drift seems to cause problems, "revealing" a masked Dan while taking up more cross section. -Dave Mo

  • Ya know.... in a previous life I was a motorcyclist... and many times we would share a lane with same. I think this is where he is coming from. I've had this happen to me too. They don't understand the speed differential. But motorists think like that too. Personally, I'd rather share a lane with a biker than a motorist.

  • frightening.

  • Being an avid motorcyclist I think this was extremely reckless! One wrong move on either the motorcyclist, bikecyclist, or semi, and someone would have been seriously hurt or killed. Stupid move!

  • what a Deuch. wow people are stupid.
