The game was released on CD in a 4 game Microprose compilation (I bought it a while ago, friend's borrowing it currently). If I recall it's called "The Best of Microprose" and had a blue cover, the 4 games on it were Pirates!, Railroad Tycoon, Rex Nebular and the Cosmic Gender Bender, and a 4th one I never really got into (a strategy game called Command HQ if I recall).
No idea if it ever came as a single CD, but there definitely was a CD release of multiple games with Rex on it.
it was never released on cd cause I had my 5.25 floopies replaced for 3.5 disk back in 2001 when I called Mircopose directly and asked them if it was on CD-Rom
@DangerousD6969 you left this comment like a YEAR AGO so doubt you will read it, but for you or anyone else wondering they did release this on CD too... back in ...uhh.. maybe 1997? 1998? Later? Bought a CD value package thing with different games on it, this was one of them. I came here to this video here actually to see how the game ended, since me and my brother never beat it! haha
I even contacted micropose back in 2003 to have my 5.25 floppys exchanged for 3.5 since it wasn't on cd rom, I did manage to download the whole game onto my computer but it's not compatible to play it on here
It did - as part of the "Best of Microprose" collection, with Pirates!, Command HQ, Railroads (I think) and Rex. You can also get it off the internet at many sites... the only thing you can't do is get the manual, or at least I can't find it. Which sucks, since it was as well written as the game and had a lot of content.
