Four fire engines and around 20 firefighters were called to a fire in a hostel on Endsleigh Gardens in Euston, WC1 today. A six roomed flat on the ground floor of the five storey building was damaged by the fire. Around 60 people left the building before firefighters arrived on the scene. Two people and a dog were led to safety by firefighters wearing breathing apparatus. Both people were treated at the scene by London Ambulance Service staff.
The Brigade was called at 1308 and the fire was under control by 1446. Firefighters from Clerkenwell, Islington and surrounding fire stations were at the scene. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
